It’s Super Simple

I was talking to one of my lovely parents about Wildkids this week and they were commenting on how their little person was so happy with just playing and exploring in the bush at the back of their place. They talked about how simple things like bug hunting and climbing an old tree gave their kids far more pleasure than all their ‘techie’ toys’ and it reminded me of a wonderful conversation I had before the COVID lockdown.

“It’s super simple” one of my 5 year olds announced during a Wild kids session.

What is ?” I asked

“ Looking after everything” they replied

“Why do you think that?”

“Well, if you like somebody or something, you are kind to it and look after it. So all you have to do is be kind to the thing you like. Then that would mean that everybody will be kind to what they like, See simple.”

“What do you like?”

“I dunno, I like flowers and I like rabbits and I like birds but not cockroaches and bugs” they said.

“What if birds ate cockroaches and bugs and the flowers needed the bugs to pollinate?”

“I s’pose. Does that mean that I have to be nice to them if the birds eat them n stuff?”

“Probably”

“Well maybe you’ve just got to be kind to everything then.”

Simple.
