Sustainable sowing

Spring has arrived finally. Not a moment too soon. There is the heavy scent of Jasmin in the air and the yellow Wattle is bursting everywhere. Now that the nights are becoming a little less chilly we can all think about sowing a few seeds.

I love to experiment as much as possible with seeds. I like to buy meadow flower seeds to help the pollinators. Veggies for the family, I buy from my local independent garden centre. As for seeds for fruits, I use the ones in the fruit I buy from the green grocer.

Simple steps to growing seeds.

  • Select some seeds, I prefer to go to a local independent garden centre for help and advice on what to grow and when.

  • For fruit n veg use good organic potting mix (why put chemicals into your system?).

  • Find a pot anything can work. Try to use something from the recycling bin a yogurt pot a milk bottle, fizzy water bottle you can use anything as lond as you can put in a few drainage holes.

  • Make a hole and drop a few seeds in.

  • Sprinkle on some water

  • Wait for the magic to happen.

When the seedlings a big enough transplant them into a larger tray, pot or into the garden.

Good luck and happy growing.
